Last November, X-RIS, a company based in Herstal (Liège), specialising in the supply of digital X-Ray and security equipment, won the Deloitte Fast 50 award for the second time in the Hardware category.
Since 2001, Fast 50 Technology has promoted and encouraged the development of companies that combine innovation and growth in the high-tech sector. For the 2017 ceremony, held in Brussels on 14 November, 505 candidates of various nationalities (French, Belgian, African, etc.) presented themselves hoping to win one of the prizes in the six different sectors: Software, Hardware, Communication, Media, Life Sciences and Clan Technology. With a turnover that increased 3.7 times between 2013 and 2016, X-RIS won the prize for the company with the highest rate of growth in the Hardware category. It had already won this prize in 2015, as well as one in the "IT & Digital Solutions" category.
It has to be said that the Liège-based company has the capacity to produce all its own components for its systems, something that has helped it to win several major contracts around the world. For example, in 2011, it developed a tailor-made X-Ray scanner for the Royal Museum for Central Africa designed to study the collection of zoological specimens, some of which are 70 years old. In 2014, X-RIS won a contract with the Academy of the American Federal Bureau of Investigation in Quantico, Virginia. This is where the FBI's new special agents train. X-RIS designed mobile scanners for them that could analyse suspicious packages in less than 20 seconds. The contract was renewed in 2015 and 2017, but this time at the training centre in Alabama. The company also works in the aeronautical industry with clients such as SABCA and Safran; in the space sector in collaboration with SpaceX and also in the oil industry where which it supplies TOTAL.
Currently, the Liège company has 17 members of staff, including 10 engineers, and it is hiring sales staff wishing to conquer new markets as well as accountant to support the administrative department. Do not hesitate to visit their website for further information.
